Simmer and Mistral News Zara Davis achieves No1 ranking position in Women’s Speed The UK’s queen of speed has now taken the top spot on the official International Speed Windsurfing Class ranking. Zara who only started speedsailing in 2005 has slowly clawed her way up the ranking list by consistent performances at international events like the European Championships last year in Ireland. It is a bitter sweet victory though as the upcoming World Championships at the legendary site of Sotovento has been cancelled due to the recession. Zara said “It’s great to be ranked No 1 in the world but it’s the world championships I was looking forward to, It attracts all the top girls and It would have been great to achieve the World title on a level playing field” Zara is sponsored by Mistral, Simmer, Dakine, Spartan, Sonntag fins and Walnut Grove Clinic. To keep up to date with Zara’s travels check out her website www.zaradavis.co.uk Simmer Style News We have a had great response from Simmer booms ,good buzz on the Mayhem harness , and have sold out of the new RDM 10 masts - restocking as we speak ! Team news Simmer are proud to welcome John Kenny (current irsh record holder) onto the Simmer speed team for 2010. John has set a great benchmark in Irish speedsailing and it is our endeavour to see him go forward in the coming season. He is also using Mistral boards and supported by Wind and Wave in Dublin .
Steve Thorp in similar vein has recorded the worlds fastest GPS time so far this year at South end on Sea ,using the Simmer SC race 5.7. Have a look at him flying the bristish flag at the top of the tree - good skills Steve: http://www.gps-speedsurfing.com/?mnu=user&val=56925&uid=1767 Ben Proffitt has had an eventfull winter in SA, and is just off to Maui for the 2011 photo shoot .Ben remains an integral part of the Simmer international team!
Mistral We have had the pleasure of recieving a small selection of boards over the winter months. Everone who has riden them has had nothing but immense praise for the performance, reflecting all the hard work Anders Bringdal has put in over the last 8 months. Our first spring delivery is ready to leave to factory this week, we anticipate we will have boards in the UK sometime during week 20.
Internationally Jonas Cebballos and our own Dan Ellis have joined the team. Jonas has riden all the boards on the recent Mistral photo shoot and Dan is allready stepping up the training on Maui in preparation for the slalom world cup this season - we wish him the best of luck.
The Belgium speedweek has just finished at Guissan, although the results will not count as I belive it was pretty variable, Anders won both rounds, using the speed 63, the same board he won the overall speed world title on last season, with UK's own Zara Davis winning in the ladies! She was 6 knots faster than her rivals finishing 2nd overall for the year and is the European Champion.
